Co-owners Matt McNeil and Dan Chianfoni opened The Kratom Shop at 1007 Elmwood Ave. in Buffalo on September 20. They already have two stores, one in Rochester and one in Brockport. Kratom is a controversial plant grown in Asia. Like CBD, it’s used to alleviate pain, and anxiety. It’s also used for focus and energy and as an opiate replacement for people trying to wean themselves away from opiates. They sell different size pouches, the smallest holds 40 grams, Monday, Oct. 21, 2019. They buy most of their kratom from Borneo, Bali, Indonesia, Sumatra and Malasio. (Sharon Cantillon/Buffalo News)
